A prescription from your vet is is required for pexion tablets. Pexion 400mg tablets are a treatment for dogs with primary epilepsy or dogs with noise phobias. It acts on a specific receptor in the brain cells to reduce the amount of excessive electrical activity present. In this way, like all epilepsy treatments, Pexion acts to reduce the number of seizures that your dog has and their impact on your dog's life.
Each Pexion tablet is white, oblong and half-scored with embedded logo “I 02” (400 mg) on one side. The tablet can be divided into equal halves. One tablet contains 400 mg of the active substance imepitoin.
Special Instructions & Dose
Prescription medication is prescribed by a veterinary surgeon who will determine a suitable dose rate for each animal. Usual oral administration for epilepsy is at a dose range of 10 mg to 30 mg imepitoin per kg bodyweight twice daily, approximately 12 hours apart.
The dose rate for noise phobia is recommended at a dose of 30 mg imepitoin per kg bodyweight twice daily, approximately 12 hours apart.
400mg tablets are generally used for dogs weighing over 15kgs. For smaller dogs please see 100mg tablets.
Do not use in dogs with severely impaired hepatic function, severe renal or severe cardiovascular disorders.
The use of the veterinary medicinal product is not recommended in male breeding dogs or in female dogs during pregnancy and lactation.
